Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Viwaflo different?
Viwaflo brings together mindful movement, precise technique and a personalised approach to Pilates and yoga. My teaching is rooted in a respect for each person’s body, with attention to alignment, breath and the quality of movement rather than simply pushing for more.
Whether you are building strength, improving mobility or looking for a more mindful connection with your body, my aim is to help you develop a practice that feels both supportive and sustainable.
Do I need previous Pilates or yoga experience?
Not at all. Whether you are completely new to Pilates or yoga or already have an established practice, sessions are adapted to your experience, needs and goals. We can begin with the foundations and build from there at a pace that feels right for you.
What is your approach to mindful movement?
I believe movement can be more than physical exercise. It can be an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with your breath and become more aware of your body. My teaching combines thoughtful guidance with space to notice how you feel, helping you develop strength, control and body awareness without losing the sense of ease in your practice.
Who can book a private session at the Viwaflo home studio?
My private home studio is intended as a dedicated space for women and LGBTQIA+ clients, offering a personal setting for movement, self-exploration and mindful practice.
As the studio is located in my private home, I have chosen to create an environment that reflects the values and atmosphere I feel comfortable offering through my one-to-one teaching.
I also teach group classes at professional studios in The Hague and the surrounding area, where people of different genders are welcome to join my classes.
Can I practise if I have an injury, physical limitation, or am pregnant or postnatal?
Yes. Your body and individual needs are an important part of how I approach teaching.
I have specialist training in Pilates for injuries and physical limitations, as well as prenatal and postnatal Pilates. Sessions can be adapted to your current abilities, comfort and stage of recovery or pregnancy, with an emphasis on mindful movement, appropriate modifications and gradual progression.
(For more information about staying active during pregnancy and after birth, see the NHS guidance on exercise in pregnancy and keeping fit and healthy with a baby.)
You do not need to feel that your body has to be at a certain level before you begin. We can discuss your needs and experience before your first session and determine an appropriate approach together.
Where necessary, medical guidance or clearance from your healthcare professional may be needed before starting or returning to exercise. Pilates and yoga sessions are not a substitute for medical assessment or treatment.
What is the difference between Reformer and Mat Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses your body weight and sometimes small props to develop core strength, control, mobility and coordination. Reformer Pilates uses a specialised piece of equipment with a moving carriage and adjustable springs, providing more personalised resistance and support in a variety of exercises.
Both approaches build strength and body awareness, but they offer different experiences. If you are unsure which is right for you, I can help you choose based on your goals and preferences.
Can I choose between yoga and Pilates?
Of course. Pilates focuses on strength, stability, control and efficient movement, while yoga can combine movement, breathwork, flexibility and mindfulness in different ways depending on the style.
Both can support a deeper connection with your body. The best choice depends on what you need and what you enjoy, and you are welcome to explore either practice with me.
Can I combine Mat Pilates and Yoga?
Absolutely!
If you enjoy both practices, you can combine private Mat Pilates and Yoga sessions through the Mat Pilates & Yoga Combo Package. This gives you the flexibility to work on strength, stability, mobility and relaxation in a way that suits your needs.
You can find the package details and pricing on the private session page (Mat Pilates & Yoga).
What happens during an introductory session?
An introductory session is an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your goals and experience a first taste of the practice. We can talk about your movement history, preferences and any physical considerations before exploring suitable exercises.
There is no pressure to perform or to know what you are doing beforehand. The aim is to help you feel comfortable and understand whether the practice is a good fit for you.
Can I book a private session for two people?
Yes. Mat Pilates or Yoga duet sessions are available for two people who would like to practise together. It can be a lovely way to share the experience with a friend, partner or family member.
Please refer to the private session page for more info or get in touch to discuss availability and find a suitable time.
